Dr. Audie Mixon Bankston Jr.

Dr. Audie Mixon Bankston, Jr., passed away peacefully at Riverside Hospital on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. “Doc” as he was lovingly called by family and friends was born on January 17, 1934. His parents Audie Mixon Bankston and Colene Donaldson Bankston, as well as his brother, Dr. James Aswell Bankston preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Sidney Gay McCall Bankston, and his sons, Audie Mixon “Trey” Bankston, III and James Scott Bankston. Doc also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Bobbie Nell Gatlin Bankston, and brother-in-law, James Phillip McCall; four nieces, Elizabeth Bankston Hopewell (James), Martha Bankston, Laurie McCall Newell (Scott), and Hilary McCall Cooley (Hank); his four nephews, James “Jay” Aswell Bankston, Jr.,(Jill) Stephen Windifred Bankston, Armand Elmer McCall, Jr. and James Elmer McCall, II. Doc also leaves behind four great nieces, eleven great nephews and a host of cousins who he adored. Doc was a graduate of Northwestern State University, Loyola University School of Dentistry and the University of Alabama with a degree in pedodontics. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental Association, the Central Louisiana Dental Association and the Southwest Society of Pedodontics. He was a member and a deacon of Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Adults Men’s Bible Study Class. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Bruce Barton and the nursing staff on the 3rd and 4th floors of Rapides Regional Hospital and to Dr. Benjamin Newsom and the nursing staff at Riverside Hospital for the gentle and caring way they took care of Doc. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. B. David Brooks officiating. Friends and Family may pay their respects on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. A private burial will be held under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church at 5011 Jackson Street, Alexandria, LA 71303
