After more than eight years battling cancer, Carla peacefully surrendered on Friday, March 25, 2022, smiling, joking, and fighting to the final moment, like the warrior she is. As the child of an Air Force Officer, Carla was raised and educated in many different locations all over the world. She attended many different schools during her younger years. Her exposure to such a diverse education as her family constantly moved, developed her into a woman with a strong, spunky and vibrant personality, who easily made friends and was always willing to help others. Carla was a loving wife, mother, and Mimi. She had a heart of gold that she had given to Jesus. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going on camping adventures and shopping. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Carla is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Hayes; her brother, Ryan Hayes; one cousin, Kim Wamble; and her aunt, Joyce Eaker. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, the love of her life for 20 plus years, Blake Schlautman; her loving father, Garry Hayes; three sons, Matthew Gillispie, Zach Schlautman and wife, Stevie, and Aron Earl; one daughter, Brooklyn Roberts and husband, Skylar; eight grandchildren, Ethan, Destiny, Ka’Leah, Bryson, Madelyn, Heaven, Lawson and Evie; father and mother-in-law, Dean and Gloria Woda; two brothers-in-law, Cory Schlautman and wife, Jolene, Kevin Hurt and wife, Sabrina; sisters-in-law, Britain Stokes and husband, Stacey, Katelyn Ryland and husband, Rowdy; four nephews, Cason, Garison, McCoy and Caul; and eight nieces, Annaston, Anniston, Courtney, Savannah, Violet, Scarlett, Evelyn and Charlie.
