Dorothy "Dee Dee" Kramer

June 27, 1944 - February 20, 2022

On Sunday, February 20, 2022, Dorothy “Dee Dee” Kramer, passed away in her home at the age of 77. Dee Dee was born June 27, 1944, in Alexandria, LA, to S.J. Hoyt and Polly Dill Hoyt. Dee Dee graduated from Lecompte High School and attended LSUA. She began her career with Bank of Lecompte and later moved to Guaranty Bank as Vice President, where she met the love of her life, Jimmy Kramer. After they were married, they began their business Kramer Monument Company and became co-owners of Alexandria Memorial Gardens and Greenwood Cemetery. Jimmy and Dee Dee devoted their lives to their family and their businesses. Dee Dee will be remembered for her strong faith in God, her love of family, fishing and reading novels. Dee Dee was a woman of few words but had a wealth of knowledge and if you ever had the opportunity to get to know her, you knew she was someone very special. Dee Dee is preceded in death by her parents, S.J. and Polly Hoyt; husband, Jimmy Kramer; brother, Sam Hoyt; sister, Betty Jane Moody; and granddaughter, Ann Marie Mathews. She is survived by her children, Laura Mathews, Bill Bowman (Leslie), Britt Bowman (Rebecca), and Karen Hubley (David); 7 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jo Lujan and Ann Houston; brother, Bill Hoyt; and her companion, George Lyles who always brought a smile to her face and joy to her heart. The family would like to extend thanks to Harbor Hospice, with special thanks to Dee Dee, Rhonda, and Chelsea for their compassionate care of our mother during her final days. We would also like to thank Joyce for her care, kindness, and friendship offered to our mom and our entire family over the last year. Lastly, we would like to thank Joey and Neidre Pinckley for their dedication, compassion, and genuine love of our mom during the most challenging days of her life. Our mom passed away in her home with dignity, respect, exemplary care, and most importantly, love. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 2 p.m. under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.
