He is preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Mamie Campo; nine siblings and their spouses, Benton (Dez), Sam (Lois), Mary (Robert), Chris (Don), Frank (Louise), Johnny (Clydia), Simon (Rena Mae), and Rosie (Fred); one grandson-in-law, Jacob Williamson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Edgar was born on July 5, 1929, in Alexandria. He graduated from Holy Savior Menard High School and after high school, he began learning electrical work from his brother, Son. Edgar also joined the Navy Reserves. He continued his electrical work by becoming a lineman for the City of Alexandria Light and Power Department in 1955. Edgar ultimately became an entrepreneur and owned EJ Electric for 25 years. In the early years of his electrical career, he met his future wife, Connie, and together, they spent 70 loving years of marriage. They had three children who all remember their father as a hard worker who never found anything he could not fix. If he saw something on the side of the road, he knew that he could restore it into an even greater treasure than when he found it. Through his electrical work and his hobby of constantly working in his shop, he became a master tradesman. Another skill Edgar mastered was his ability to cook. He loved to cook his specialties, Italian sausage and Italian cookies, for his family; especially his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Paw Paw.” He was an active member of the Amerita Club and the Knights of Columbus. He held God, his family and his work above everything else and for those reasons, he leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 70 years, Connie Campo; his three children, Anita Ware (Tim), Sammie White (Luke), and Edgar Campo, Jr. (Regina); seven grandchildren, Ashley, Timothy (Kimberly), Sam, Jessie, Tanner (Danielle), Ryan (Brittini), and Courtney; six great-grandchildren, Claire, Aubrey, Steven, Faith, Maria, Noah; and one brother-in-law, Anthony Tamburo (Diane). Pallbearers honored to serve include Craig Campo, Lance Tamburo, Andy Tamburo, Sam White, Tanner Ross and Timothy Ware. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven White and Lane Tamburo. Edgar’s family would like to thank the nurses of Amedisys Home Health, his nurses from Compassionate Care Hospice Erica, Shellie, Allison, and Edgar’s caregivers, Bea, Kristi and Jennifer for all of their loving care they provided through the final stages of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Edgar’s memory can be made to St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Alexandria and the Maryhill Retreat Center in Pineville.
