A Mass of Christian Burial for Eric Thomas Spangler will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at St. Rita Catholic Church, with Rev. Daniel Hart and Rev. Peter Faulk officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville, Louisiana, under the direction of John Kramer and Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Kramer Funeral Home of Alexandria with a Rosary service at 6:00 PM conducted by Rev. Peter Faulk. Words of encouragement will be held by Mr. Spangler’s Brother-in-law, Andrew Cox following the Rosary. Visitation will resume at 9:00 AM, Tuesday morning at Kramer Funeral Home of Alexandria and will end at 10:30 AM. Eric Thomas Spangler, 44, of Alexandria, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. Eric is preceded in death by his brother, Jake Spangler; maternal grandparents, J.C. and Adelaide Carlin; paternal grandparents, Jake and Maye Spangler; two uncles, Steve Carlin and Mike Spangler; and aunt, Debbie Womack. Eric was born February 16, 1977, in Alexandria, Louisiana. He attended Holy Savior Menard High School, Alexandria Senior High School, and Louisiana State University of Alexandria. He loved his sons, his entire family, LSU and Saints football, and the Alexandria Police Department. Eric had a special relationship with his nieces Kayla and Bailey, and nephew, Caleb. Eric enjoyed barbecuing and won many awards barbecuing competitively. Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, Eric Jr. and Riley Spangler; his mother, Pat Carlin Spangler; father and step-mother, Gary and Darlene Spangler; two sisters, Danielle Cox (Andrew) and Nikki Lucas (Steven); three uncles, Col. Mike Carlin, Ret. (Barbara), Paul Carlin, and Carl Carlin; and two aunts, Vicki Carlin Collins (Bill) and Angela Carlin Bruce (Rick). Pallbearers honored to serve will be Eric Spangler, Jr. and Riley Spangler. Honorary pallbearers will be Sammie Dauzat, Mike Bozeman, Ben Robinson, Jerry Harvey, Johnathan Dauzat, Chris Paul, Caleb Spangler, Seth Runyan, Mark Robinson, and MSgt. Mikey Carlin. The family would like to especially thank Fr. Joy and Fr. Jacob from Cabrini Hospital, and the ICU staff at Cabrini Hospital for all their compassion during his last month in the hospital. The family also thanks Dr. Kelly Letsinger and Melanie Huff for their empathy and care. Charitable donations in Eric’s memory can be made to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH. 45229, in honor of Kayla Spangler and in memory of her Uncle Spanky (Eric Spangler), and her dad, Jake Spangler. Reception will follow the funeral at the Pentecostals of Alexandria Church, 2817 Rapides Ave., Alexandria. Food will be provided by the Pentecostals of Alexandria, St. Rita Bereavement Committee, the Seven Sisters, and friends and family.
