Harold Lionel Jeansonne Sr.

December 19, 1933 - February 2, 2022

A Mass of Christian Burial for Harold Lionel Jeansonne, Sr. will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with Rev. Chad Partain officiating. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, February 7, 2022 and resume from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, February 7, 2022, in the Kramer Chapel. On February 2, 2022, Harold (Happy)L. Jeansonne Sr. died in Alexandria of advanced Alzheimer’s. He was 88 years old. Harold is survived by his wife, Lillie Jeansonne; his children, Guy Jeansonne, Karen Jeansonne, Deborah Jeansonne, Harold Jeansonne Jr. and wife, Melody, of Alexandria; Sandra Guidry and husband, James, of New Orleans and Janice Bowers and husband, Ben, of Cary, North Carolina. Harold is also survived by twelve grandchildren Alexandra, Blake, Arden, Brooks, Cara, Christa Jeansonne and Zoe Couvillion, Natalie, Rachel and Rebecca Bowers, and Katherine Guidry; and his sister, Patricia “Pat” Cook, and her husband, Sherman Cook. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Gea and Martha Jeansonne and siblings, Dorothy Gremillion and Barbara Coco. Harold was born in Alexandria, LA and graduated from Holy Savior Menard High School and attended both Southern Louisiana Institute (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and Louisiana State University. Harold proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked with his father building houses and then worked at Gremillion Millworks before starting his own business Jeansonne’s Millworks in 1974. Pallbearers honored to serve include Guy Jeansonne, Harold Jeansonne Jr., Blake Jeansonne, Brooks Jeansonne, Ed Coco, Alfred E. Cook, Jr., and Steve Cook. In lieu of flowers consider making a memorial donation in Harold’s name to Holy Savior Menard High School.
