Memorial services for Janet J. Starn will be held at a later date. Janet J. Starn, 94, of Alexandria, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert E. Jackson and Mattie Mae Dicus Jackson; and one sister, Mattye Jackson Gaskill. Janet was born and grew up in Philadelphia, PA, and later lived in New York, NY and Fair Lawn, NJ. In the 1950's, she traveled the country with a theater troupe that included James Coco, who she referred to as Jimmy. She was always interested in visual and performing arts, enjoyed opera and art museums, and traveled the world after retirement. After she retired, she moved to Alexandria, and was able to see her grandchildren every day. She enjoyed singing, theater, and painting. Janet volunteered with Alexandria Museum of Art, Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center, Central Louisiana Arts and Healthcare, Rapides Parish Library, and Cenla Partners in Literacy. She also served as a poll worker and precinct captain. Janet was a member of Cenla Storytellers, Contemporary Artists Guild, Spectral Sisters, Twin City Twirlers, Heritage Singers, and City Park Players. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters: Wendy L. Starn (David Texada) and Darcie A. Ariza (Edy Ruiz), and son, Erich R. Starn; granddaughter, Elizabeth Texada Miceli (Christopher Miceli) and grandson, Daniel D. Texada; and great-granddaughter, Harriet Anne Miceli.
