A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for June Normand Melancon at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral with Rev. James Ferguson officiating, and Rev. Derek Ducote concelebrating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary in the Kramer Chapel at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. June Normand Melancon was born on Friday, November 15, 1935, in Alexandria, and passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Christus Cabrini Hospital, at the age of 86. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Melancon, and her parents, Murray and Eura Normand. June graduated from Providence High School in 1953. She worked as an x-ray technician at Cabrini Hospital for a few years before having a family. She then worked at Holy Savior Menard Central High School for 40 years, touching the lives of many generations. She is survived by her children, Beth Childers (Laren), Becky Deville (Bryan) and John Melancon (Andrea); grandchildren, Ryan Ouber, Chris Childers (Sheree), Anne Holloway (Chad), Matthew Melancon (Tera) and Kristen Deville (Travis); and her great grandchildren, Presley and Heston Childers, Keira Holloway, Ella and Amelia Melancon, and Lillian and Annie Deville. Pallbearers honored to serve will be Ryan Ouber, Chris Childers, Matthew Melancon, David Melancon, Troy Maillet and Dewey Diboll.
