Margaret Ellington Bordelon

August 2, 1934 - December 6, 2021

A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Margaret “Mikki” Ellington Bordelon with her immediate family in attendance. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of John Kramer & Son. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Michael Young, a close friend of the family. A Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church will take place at a later date. Mikki was born on August 2, 1934, in Alexandria, LA. She received the Last Rites and peacefully left her earthly life for her eternal reward on December 6, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family. It is possibly no coincidence that this humble servant of God who gave so generously from the heart, in so many ways, left us on the feast day of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of generosity. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis A. Bordelon, her parents, Tillizelle G. and John Edward Ellington, and many other family members. Mikki is survived by her only sibling and best friend, Elizabeth Jane “Bey” Ellington, as well as her children who adored her, Jane Neal (Barry), Fran Aucoin (Dale), Michael Ellington Bordelon (Jan), and Elizabeth “Lissa” Barrett. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Megan Ellington Aucoin, Katherine Aucoin Devins (Sean), Elizabeth Neal White (Jimmy), Caroline Kyle Neal, Kennon Francis Bordelon, and Erin Bordelon Wilson (Chase), and her great-grandchildren, Evelyn, William, Ellington, and Emory White. Her office manager, Beverly Mooney, who was also a wonderful friend, held a special place in Mikki’s heart after many pleasant years of working together. Mikki was a strong supporter of education and had a special appreciation for the Sisters of Divine Providence Academy where she began her education and continued to SLI (ULL) and Louisiana College. She went on to achieve a successful career as a commercial Real Estate Appraiser, following in the footsteps of her grandfather, Edward Moreland Ellington. In this professional area of her life, she was recognized as the recipient of awards, but more importantly, was held in high esteem by her colleagues for her work ethic, always continuing her education, and for her respectful treatment of others. Mikki had a never-ending love for the friends of her children and grandchildren, even into their adulthood. Always a gracious hostess, with an open door to her home, she took great delight in seeing every child, and she even got away with not cooking. She was hilariously funny and quick-witted, enjoying every minute of telling funny stories and listening to everyone. To each and every one of you who crossed her threshold, over the years, “Thanks for the memories.” We love you all for enriching our lives. Mikki enjoyed traveling with family and friends, reading, and playing golf and tennis. She loved watching her grandchildren participate in their sports and activities. Her greatest joy was living life and loving others as a child of God. We would like to thank Christus Hospice, especially Patty Bridges and Sarah Hassell. We also want to thank Mikki’s devoted caretakers throughout the last two years. She always had a smiling face for them. Family members serving as pall bearers are Dale Aucoin, Kennon Bordelon, Sean Devins, Christopher Ellington, Patrick Ellington, Barry Neal, Dr. James White, and Chase Wilson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mikki Ellington Bordelon Scholarship Fund for Holy Savior Menard High School C\O The Catholic Foundation of North Louisiana, P.O. 12833, Alexandria, LA 71315, or Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA 71211. We sincerely thank our family and friends for their unending prayers and support. We love and appreciate you. In closing, please allow us to say that while we cannot imagine the world without this special person of grace, we can better imagine heaven with the presence of this beautiful soul.
