Otride Paul Marcotte Jr.

September 4, 1943 - February 13, 2022

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Otride Paul Marcotte, Jr. will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at St. Rita Catholic Church, Alexandria, with Reverend Phil Michiels and Reverend Craig Scott officiating. Entombment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Alexandria, under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, and resume from 8:30 A.M. until 9:30 A.M on February 17, 2022, at the funeral home. A vigil will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the chapel of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Otride Paul Marcotte, Jr., 78, of Alexandria, passed from this life on February 13, 2022, surrounded by the love of his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Otride Paul and Viriginia Michiels Marotte his sister, Audrey Marcotte Ternes, and his wife, Peggy Seeling Marcotte. Paul, as he was known by his friends and co-workers, was retired after a 42-year career with Dresser Industries. While employed at Dresser he served in various capacities including president of IAM&AW Union Local 2518. Paul was also honorably discharged from service in the 95th Division of US Army and US Army reserve rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. His hobbies included woodworking, carpentry, and working to restore his father's 1954 Chevrolet sedan; these will leave us many reminders of him for years to come. He was also an avid supporter of his alma mater, Menard Central High School, donating countless hours building Menard’s current home football field and assisting the football program any way he was needed. Those left to cherish his memory include son, Michael Paul Marcotte (Stephanie); daughter, Alisa Marcotte Brasseux (Chad); grandchildren, Douglas Paul Marcotte, Abigail Marcotte, Lillian Marcotte, Emma Brasseux, and Easton Brasseux; niece, Susan Atha (Spencer); nephews, Robert “Terry” Ternes (Annette) and John Paul Ternes; and numerous friends, and former co-workers. Pallbearers honored to serve will be: Douglas Marcotte, Chad Bernard, Freddie Hallman, Robby Tarver, Terry Taylor, and Robert "Terry" Ternes. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Easton Brasseux, Mason Dauzat, Greg Evans, Johnny Jackson, Jeff Reed, Harold Showers, and Tommy Vermaelen. Paul’s family would like to thank his caregiver, Sylvia Thornton, for her friendship and love. They would also like to thank Paul’s medical team, doctors and nurses in the Rapides Regional Medical ICU as well as the church families of St. Rita Catholic Church and Calvary Baptist Church for their kindness, care, and compassion. “God has called him home. May he rest in peace for he has labored hard. We will miss his helpful, skillful hands and friendly smile. We love you.”
